在长大之后，你一定记得大人们这样说，“我记得我在你这个年纪的时候……”然后就是一块面包、一加仑牛奶或一升天然气的价钱飙升吧？如果一个面包仅仅25美分，那么可以想象一下他们生活在一个怎样古老的年代？好吧，我们当中的大多数人都经历过那个年代。“那时候”的生活，就好像发生在昨天一样。那是一段老派已经不再酷的日子。

一天，我正在和姐姐通电话，这件事很快地提醒了我时代在变迁。在背景里，我能听到将近一岁的侄女变得非常不耐烦。我很奇怪发生了什么这么混乱，于是我问姐姐为什么小侄女弄这么大噪音。她解释说，小侄女想看看我，仅仅听我的声音已经不能满足她了。多么聪明啊，她这一代已经习惯了视觉伴随着声音一起交流。时代变得多么快啊！

实际上，时代发生了巨大的变化，以前我们天天说的话可能在今天已经不适用了。这些东西在以前可能很酷，但是现在可能就是“旧派”了。以下就是5个最常见的旧派的说法。你会常常说吗？

1.Give me a ring.
    给我响个铃

Old school meaning - Call me.
这是老式的说法，意思是给我打电话

Use this term with a teen and he/she may be envisioning a sparkling gem encased in a precious metal. With phones playing hundreds of thousands of noises and jingles, the new phone is far more capable than just a ring.
青少年们听到这句话，他或她可能会想象到（这样一幅画面），在重金属外壳的包裹下，闪着钻石般的光芒。老式的电话可以发出成千上万种聒噪的铃声和“叮叮”声，而现在新型手机的功能远不止简单的响铃。

2.You sound like a broken record.

Old school meaning - You're repeating yourself.
这是老式的说法，意思是你反复讲同样的话。

Today's teens consider albums vintage, and unless they have been around a record player, they may have no idea what a scratched record sounds like.
今天的青少年以为这是指是复古的唱片，除非他们站在电唱机旁边，否则他们肯定想象不到受损的唱片听起来是什么样子的。

Old school meaning - Will you record a show, song or movie?

Use this saying with your teen and he/she may picture needing to repair something or wrap a gift. Who needs a tape when you can record? VHS is a thing of the past and DVDs are quickly being replaced with online demand streaming options.
听到这个，青少年可能会联想到修理某物或者包裹一个礼物。当你录制的时候，谁会需要一个磁带呢？录影带是过去的事情了，就连DVDs也很快被在线视频选择替代。

4. Don't touch that dial!
    不要碰那个旋钮！

Old school meaning - Don't turn the channel on the TV.
这是老式的说法，意思是不要转换电视的频道。

Remember that heavy monstrosity of a television that was as much a piece of furniture as it was a source of entertainment? Sure it had a remote control with it, it was called the kids. Now we have the luxury of using a real remote control or other electronic devices to control the TV. Dial also meant punching or literally dialing the numbers on a rotary phone.

You can still find hand cranked windows in older cars aka classics, but many teens today have not had the privilege of cranking up a car window. Remember when it started to rain just how fast you roll that window up? Teens today have the luxury of cars speaking to them, windows controlled through an operator panel, and a keychain that locks the vehicle, starts it, and controls an alarm system.
在AKA的经典老车里，你依然可以发现曲柄回转的车窗，但是今天许多青少年已经没有用曲柄摇车窗的特权了。还记得一开始下雨时，你摇车窗摇的多快吗？今天的青少年拥有的车对他们来说是很豪华的，通过操作面板来控制车窗，并且一个钥匙扣就可以给车上锁，发动车子，并且还可以控制一个报警系统。
